Recently, I’ve been inspired by a friend to draw one sketch everyday for a month. This friend suggested everyday for a year but I’m not committed to any particular thing to do so frequently (except drinking coffee, obviously).
So, of course, I challenge you to find something you want to do for a month. Maybe something you are good at or something you’ve never tried. I didn’t choose drawing because I’m good at it. I’m not good. At all. But the benefit I get from it is so relaxing and self-discovering. I’m the type of person that is afraid to start a project because I don’t think that I’ll finish or be satisfied with it. (This is kindof why the job search is so hard for me). But by allowing myself to try, to do, and to occasionally fail, I am hoping to let go of control in my life, even if it’s in a small way.
When I start a sketch, I have no idea what it’ll look like. I literally start to draw with no ideas and sometimes a design comes out, sometimes it’s an actual recognizable thing. Regardless, it’s just important that I create something. And who knows, maybe I’ll discover a design for my first tattoo?
What would you do for a month? No, what are you going to do everyday next month?
